وصرح المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية بأن السيد الرئيس أعرب عن تقدير مصر العميق للعلاقات التاريخية التي تجمع بين مصر وبنجلاديش، مؤكداً على أهمية مواصلة تعزيز التعاون بين البلدين في شتى المجالات، لاسيما في المجالين الاقتصادي والاستثماري بالإضافة إلى التعاون العلمي والثقافي. وأشار سيادته إلى الدور الحيوي الذي يقوم به الأزهر الشريف في هذا السياق.
من جانبه، أكد رئيس الحكومة الانتقالية المؤقتة على ما ذكره السيد الرئيس بشأن أهمية تطوير العلاقات الثنائية، مضيفاً أن الأزهر الشريف يحظى بمكانة مميزة في وجدان شعب بنجلاديش، بالإضافة إلى دوره الراسخ في مواجهة خطاب التطرف والإرهاب.
وأشار السفير محمد الشناوي، المتحدث الرسمي، إلى أن اللقاء استعرض التطورات الإقليمية، وخاصةً في غزة ولبنان وسوريا، والجهود المصرية المبذولة لاستعادة الأمن والاستقرار والحفاظ على مقدرات الشعوب. حيث أعرب رئيس وزراء بنجلاديش في هذا السياق عن تقديره للدور الجوهري الذي تضطلع به مصر كعنصر أساسي لتحقيق الاستقرار في منطقة الشرق الأوسط ودفاعاً عن قضايا الأمة الإسلامية والدول النامية، مؤكداً رغبة بلاده في تعزيز التعاون مع مصر ليرتقي إلى مستوى الروابط التاريخية التي تجمع البلدين.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Dr.Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit for Economic Cooperation held in the New Administrative Capital.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for the historical relations between Egypt and Bangladesh, stressing the importance of continuing to enhance cooperation between the two countries across various fields, especially in the economic and investment fields, as well as scientific and cultural cooperation. The President referred to the vital role played by Al-Azhar in this context.
Dr. Yunus confirmed President El-Sisi’s remarks regarding the importance of developing bilateral relations, adding that Al-Azhar enjoys a special status in the conscience of the people of Bangladesh, in addition to its steadfast role in confronting extremism and terrorism.
The meeting reviewed regional developments, especially in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, and Egypt’s efforts to restore security and stability and preserve the capabilities of the peoples. Dr. Yunus expressed his appreciation for the essential role played by Egypt as a key element in achieving stability in the Middle East and defending the issues of the Islamic nation and developing countries, stressing his country’s interest to enhance cooperation with Egypt to be commensurate with the level of the historical ties that unite the two countries.
