استقبل السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي اليوم السيد جوزيبي كونتي، رئيس وزراء إيطاليا، وذلك على هامش انعقاد أعمال القمة العربية الأوروبية الأولى بشرم الشيخ.

وصرح السفير بسام راضي، المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية، بأن السيد الرئيس رحب بلقاء رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي ومشاركته في أعمال القمة العربية الأوروبية، معرباً سيادته عن تقديره للعلاقات الثنائية المتميزة بين البلدين، وتطلعه لأن تمثل زيارة السيد كونتي إلى مصر قوة دفع جديدة لتطوير تلك العلاقات التي تستند إلى روابط تاريخية عميقة ذات أبعاد سياسية واقتصادية وأمنية وثقافية.
من جانبه؛ أكد رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي حرص بلاده على توثيق أواصر التعاون الثنائي مع مصر، لا سيما في ظل ما تشهده العلاقات بين البلدين من تطورات إيجابية خلال الفترة الأخيرة، مشيداً بالتقدم الملموس في مصر على صعيد التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، ومؤكداً ما تمثله بالنسبة لإيطاليا والقارة الأوروبية جمعاء كدعامة محورية للأمن والاستقرار في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
وأوضح المتحدث الرسمي أن اللقاء شهد استعراضاً لعدد من الملفات ذات الصلة بالعلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، حيث تطرق الجانبان إلى آخر التطورات المتعلقة بالتحقيقات الجارية في مقتل الطالب الإيطالي “ريجيني”، والتعاون المشترك بين الدولتين للكشف عن ملابسات القضية والوصول إلى الجناة وتقديمهم للعدالة.
كما تمت مناقشة سبل تطوير العلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية والاستثمارية بين البلدين، لاسيما في ظل ما تتيحه المشروعات القومية الجاري تنفيذها في مصر من فرص متميزة، خاصةً مشروع تنمية محور قناة السويس ومشروعات تداول الطاقة، بالإضافة إلى التعاون في مجالات التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي والزراعة والصناعات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، فضلاً عن تنسيق الجهود مع مصر كشريك رائد للاتحاد الأوروبي في مجال مكافحة ظاهرتي الإرهاب والهجرة غير الشرعية.
وأضاف السفير بسام راضي أن اللقاء تطرق كذلك إلى استعراض آخر تطورات الملف الليبي، حيث أكد السيد الرئيس ثوابت الموقف المصري القائم على ضرورة التوصل لتسوية سياسية شاملة في ليبيا بدعم من الأمم المتحدة، يكون قوامها تنفيذ الاتفاق السياسي الليبي، بالشكل الذي يحافظ على وحدة ليبيا الشقيقة وسلامتها الإقليمية ويساعد على استعادة دور مؤسسات الدولة الوطنية فيها. وقد أعرب رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي عن تقدير بلاده للدور الفعال الذي تقوم به مصر لاستعادة الاستقرار والأمن في ليبيا، موجهاً الشكر في هذا الصدد إلى السيد الرئيس على المشاركة في القمة المصغرة بشأن ليبيا، والتي عقدت في شهر نوفمبر الماضي بمدينة باليرمو في إيطاليا وهدفت إلى التشاور بشأن سبل التوصل إلى استعادة الاستقرار في ليبيا.
وشهد اللقاء أيضاً تبادل وجهات النظر بشأن تطورات الأوضاع في عدد من بؤر النزاعات بالقارة الإفريقية، لا سيما منطقة القرن الأفريقي. كما تم التباحث في هذا الصدد بشأن آفاق التعاون الثلاثي بين البلدين في أفريقيا، خاصةً في ضوء تولي مصر رئاسة الاتحاد الأفريقي، مع إمكانية تركيز هذا التعاون على المجالات التنموية من خلال استثمار نشاط الوكالة المصرية للتنمية بالقارة، وذلك استكمالاً للنموذج الناجح للتعاون بين البلدين في تدريب الكوادر الأفريقية في مكافحة الهجرة غير الشرعية والإتجار في البشر.
Today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, on the sidelines of the first League of Arab States (LAS)-EU Summit in Sharm El Sheikh.
The President welcomed Mr. Conte’s participation in the summit. He expressed his appreciation for the distinct relations between the two countries and hoped that Mr. Conte’s visit would give new momentum to further develop these multi-faceted relations.
The Italian prime minister confirmed his country’s keenness to bolster cooperation with Egypt, in light of positive developments in bilateral relations. He lauded significant progress in Egypt at the level of economic and social development and confirmed that to Italy and Europe Egypt represents a key pillar for security and stability in the Middle East.
The meeting reviewed a number of issues pertinent to bilateral ties. The two sides discussed developments concerning investigations into the murder of Giulio Regeni and cooperation between the two countries to unveil the circumstances of this case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
They also discussed ways to enhance economic relations as well as trade and investment between the two countries, in light of the opportunities offered by the current national projects namely the Suez Canal Area Development Project as well as projects in the areas of energy, higher education, scientific research, agriculture and SMEs. This is in addition to coordinating efforts with Egypt, as a key EU partner, to combat terrorism and illegal migration.
The meeting also touched on the latest developments pertinent to Libya. President El Sisi confirmed Egypt’s unyielding position that is based on the need to reach a comprehensive political solution in Libya with the support of the UN. This shall be based on the implementation of the Libyan political agreement in a way that preserves the county’s unity and territorial integrity and helps restore the role of national state institutions. Mr. Conte expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s effective role to restore stability and security in Libya and thanked the President for taking part in the mini-summit on Libya that was held in Palermo last November.
Views were exchanged on the development of the situation in a number of conflict zones in Africa, particularly the Horn of Africa. The two sides discussed prospects for trilateral cooperation in Africa, in light of Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union, and the possibility of focusing cooperation in the areas of development by capitalizing on the role of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, in continuation of the successful model of cooperation between the two countries in training African cadres to combat illegal migration and human trafficking.
