President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Wednesday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy.
In the meeting, preparations underway for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations, which Egypt will host in June, were reviewed.
President El Sisi stressed the importance of coordination among different authorities to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations to ensure its success, given the event’s significance at the continental and international levels and that it coincides with Egypt’s chairmanship of the African Union.
The President highlighted the need to upgrade the sports facilities and infrastructure and stadiums and improve their capacity in the governorates where football matches will take place as well as manage resourcefully the economic aspects and tourism and marketing revenues generated from the championship. This is in addition to adhering to the executive plans and timetable designated to complete all the organizational details, in accordance to the highest international standards.
The prime minister reviewed preparations underway; these include security measures to receive the audiences, providing the necessary health services and media coverage. He also reviewed arrangements in the five governorates where matches will be played; Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia and Port Said, in terms of sports, health, accommodation and other vital facilities.
