استقبل امس الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي السيدة كريستالينا جورجييفا، الرئيس التنفيذي للبنك الدولي والمرشحة لمنصب مدير عام صندوق النقد الدولي،
وذلك بحضور السيد طارق عامر محافظ البنك المركزي، والدكتورة سحر نصر وزيرة الاستثمار والتعاون الدولي.

وصرح السفير بسام راضي، المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية، بأن السيد الرئيس رحب بلقاء السيدة “جورجييفا”، مؤكداً اهتمام سيادته بالتشاور المستمر مع قيادات مؤسسات التمويل الدولية انطلاقاً من حرص مصر على دفع التعاون معها كشريك استراتيجي، وذلك في إطار العمل على دعم الخطط الطموحة للتنمية الاقتصادية في مصر، والتي تمثل نهجاً استراتيجياً لتحقيق تنمية حقيقية مستدامة بكافة محاورها الاقتصادية والاجتماعية.
كما أكد السيد الرئيس التقدير لحرص “جورجييفا” على زيارة القاهرة والالتقاء بالحكومة المصرية كمرشحة لقيادة صندوق النقد الدولي، واهتمامها بعرض رؤيتها حول مستقبل عمل الصندوق وعلاقاته بمصر وأفريقيا والدول النامية خلال الفترة القادمة، مشيداً سيادته بالتعاون المثمر الذى شهدته العلاقة بين مصر والبنك الدولي خلال فترة تولي “جورجييفا” لمنصب الرئيس التنفيذي للبنك الدولي، وبخبراتها الدولية الكبيرة في المجالات الاقتصادية، وفهمها المتعمق للتحديات التي تواجه الدول النامية وكذا الأولويات الوطنية التي تضعها لتجاوز تلك التحديات واتباع مسار التنمية الشاملة والمستدامة واللحاق بركب الدول المتقدمة.
وذكر المتحدث الرسمي أن السيدة “جورجييفا” أكدت من جانبها حرصها على اختيار مصر كمحطة أولى هامة في جولتها الخارجية لحشد الدعم لترشحها لمنصب المدير التنفيذي لصندوق النقد الدولي، وذلك على خلفية قصة نجاح التجربة المصرية في التعاون مع الصندوق في تنفيذ برنامج الإصلاح الاقتصادي والاجتماعي الشامل خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية، والذي نفذته مصر بشكل ممتاز وبالتزام كامل، مشيدةً بما تحقق في هذا الإطار من نتائج إيجابية واقعية انعكست في رفع معدلات النمو وتحقيق الاستقرار الاقتصادي وتحسين مناخ الأعمال والاستثمار وإقامة المشروعات التنموية على نحو جعل من مصر نموذجاً يحتذى به في تنفيذ مراحل خطوات الإصلاح الاقتصادي.
كما أكدت السيدة “جورجييفا” سعيها لأن يتضمن عمل صندوق النقد الدولي في الفترة المقبلة تشجيع الدول المتقدمة على انتهاج سياسات اقتصادية منفتحة ومتجاوبة مع الخطط التنموية للدول النامية، بما في ذلك تسهيل التجارة وحركة الاستثمارات.
وأضاف المتحدث الرسمي أن اللقاء شهد التباحث حول فرص التعاون التنموي في أفريقيا اتصالاً بالرئاسة المصرية الحالية للاتحاد الأفريقي، حيث أوضحت السيدة “جورجييفا” تطلعها للتشاور مع مصر بشأن خطط صندوق النقد الدولي للتمويل التنموي في أفريقيا، لا سيما في قطاعات البنية الأساسية والتعليم وسيادة القانون، وذلك للاستفادة من تجربة مصر الناجحة والملهمة مع الصندوق، والتي تتم بإدارة ناجزة ورؤية سياسية شاملة، الأمر الذي يوفر ذات عناصر النجاح لخطط الصندوق المستقبلية في أفريقيا، خاصةً في ظل تفعيل اتفاقية التجارة الحرة القارية الأفريقية.
وفي هذا الإطار، أكد السيد الرئيس الجهود المصرية لدعم سياسات التمويل التنموي بالمشاركة مع مؤسسات التمويل الدولية لتحقيق النمو الشامل في القارة، وذلك من خلال إقامة المشروعات التنموية التي تساهم في تطوير البنية الأساسية وتعزيز التكامل والاندماج بين الدول الأفريقية، خاصةً في مجالات الطاقة والربط الكهربائي وربط الطرق والسكك الحديدية، الأمر الذي من شأنه أن يسهم في تحصين المجتمعات الأفريقية ضد الفكر المتطرف والإرهاب والهجرة غير الشرعية، وكذلك يوفر واقع جديد أفضل ويمنح الأمل للأجيال الأفريقية القادمة، مؤكداً سيادته في هذا الصدد أهمية أن تكون أفريقيا في قلب اهتمامات القيادة الجديدة للصندوق، وأن يكون للقارة صوتاً مسموعاً فيما يتعلق بتوجهات وأولويات مؤسسات التمويل الدولية بشكلٍ عام، خاصةً وأن القارة أثبتت على مدار السنوات الماضية جديتها في تحقيق تقدم اقتصادي ملموس ينقلها إلى مصاف الشريك الاقتصادي الحقيقي في قطاعات البنية الصناعية والخدمية الدولية.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Tuesday with Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank, Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, who is also a candidate for the post of Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, the IMF.
The President confirmed his interest in the ongoing consultations with heads of international financial institutions, emanating from Egypt’s commitment to advancing cooperation with these institutions as its strategic partners. He added that this comes within the framework of efforts exerted to support the ambitious economic development plans in Egypt, which represent a strategic approach to achieving a true sustainable development across all economic and social aspects.
President El Sisi underscored his appreciation for Mrs. Georgieva’s keenness on visiting Cairo and meeting with the government of Egypt as a candidate to lead the International Monetary Fund. The President also appreciated her interest to outline her vision on the future of the IMF’s work and relations with Egypt, Africa, and developing countries in the coming period. President El Sisi lauded the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank during Mrs. Georgieva’s tenure as its CEO. He also commended her international expertise in the economic fields and her profound understanding of the challenges facing developing countries and the national priorities they set to overcome these challenges and to follow a comprehensive and sustainable development path.
Mrs. Georgieva emphasized her keenness on choosing Egypt as an important first destination of her foreign tour to garner support for her candidacy to the post of General Director of the IMF. She noted that this comes against the backdrop of the successful Egyptian experience in its cooperation with the IMF to implement the comprehensive social and economic reform program over the past three years, which Egypt is executing with excellence and full commitment. Mrs. Georgieva commended the positive outcomes which reflected on an increase in growth rates, as well as on achieving economic stability, improving the business and investment environment, and implementing developmental projects that turned Egypt into a model to be emulated in the implementation of the phases of the economic reform measures.
Mrs. Georgieva affirmed that she intends to include in the IMF’s agenda in the coming period encouraging developed countries to adopt economic policies that are open and responsive to the development plans of developing nations, including facilitating trade and investment.
The meeting discussed opportunities for development cooperation in Africa, in light of Egypt’s current chairmanship of the African Union. She looked forward to consulting with Egypt on the IMF’s plans for financing development in Africa, notably in the infrastructure and education sectors, in addition to the rule of law. She added that this aims to benefit from the successful and inspiring Egyptian experience with the IMF, which is taking place under a successful management and a comprehensive political vision that provide the elements of success for the IMF’s future plans in Africa, particularly after the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
President El Sisi reiterated Egypt’s efforts in support of the policies for the financing of development in collaboration with international financial institutions to achieve comprehensive development in Africa. This shall take place through the establishment of developmental projects that contribute to upgrading the infrastructure and enhancing integration and amalgamation among African countries, particularly in the areas of energy, electricity interconnection, road networks and railways. The President confirmed that this will contribute to shielding African societies from extremist ideology, terrorism, and illegal migration and deliver a new and better reality for the future generations in Africa. President El Sisi asserted the significance of Africa becoming a focal interest for the new IMF leadership, stressing that Africa shall be given a voice on priorities and orientations of international financial institutions in general, particularly that Africa has proved its seriousness over the past years to achieve tangible economic progress that places it among the real economic partners in the sectors of international industrial and service infrastructure.
