President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met at his residence in Munich on Friday with President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

President El Sisi emphasized the development in Egyptian-Ukrainian relations over the past period, and highlighted the progress in bilateral cooperation in a range of fields, including tourism, notably after the Ukraine International Airlines launched direct flights from Kiev to Cairo. This is in addition to trade relations, as Egypt is considered to be Ukraine‘s number one trade partner in Africa and the Middle East. President El Sisi confirmed that Egypt is open to exploring more areas of cooperation, which are of priority for both countries.
President Poroshenko expressed appreciation for meeting with President El Sisi. He stressed his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Egypt and to coordinating on issues of mutual concern, given Egypt’s key role in its regional milieu, in the Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean region. During the meeting, the two Presidents agreed on giving impetus to bilateral cooperation across all areas in the coming period.
President El Sisi also met with President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid.
President El Sisi confirmed his keenness on enhancing cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries across various levels, and on continuing consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest.
President Kaljulaid stressed Estonia’s commitment to further advancing joint cooperation with Egypt, given Egypt’s key position in the Middle East, the Mediterranean region and the African continent, particularly in light of its current chairmanship of the African Union.
The meeting reviewed a number of dossiers pertinent to bilateral cooperation. President El Sisi welcomed the activities of a number of Estonian companies operating in Egypt, notably in the fields of e-governance and IT. He looked forward to strengthening cooperation particularly in the areas where Estonia is enjoying outstanding expertise, including transportation technology, shipping and logistics services. President El Sisi underlined the promising investment opportunities offered in the economic zone of the Suez Canal, in addition to cooperation in the fields of power generation from waste and oil shale extraction.
The meeting also tackled a number of regional and international dossiers of mutual interest. The two Presidents discussed the challenges facing African and European countries, primarily illegal migration and terrorism, which necessitate coordination and joint action so as to reach effective solutions to address them.
