Today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of the first League of States (LAS)-EU Summit in Sharm El Sheikh.

The meeting touched on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly national reconciliation.
President El Sisi confirmed that Egypt would continue its relentless efforts in any matter that is related to the Palestinian issue in coordination with the Palestinians so as to crystallize a strategic vision that allows for creating an atmosphere conducive to realizing stability on the ground. This shall take place by promoting national reconciliation and establishing confidence among the Palestinians, which will help confront challenges and realise peace. President El Sisi underlined Egypt’s unyielding position on the Palestinian issue, the two state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state along the 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s diligent efforts and valuable endeavors to support the Palestinian issue and lauded its historic role, which is characterized by being both persistent and continuous, to reach a just and comprehensive solution. He noted the special and longstanding Egyptian-Palestinian ties.

The two presidents agreed to continue consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest, particularly following up on steps to unite the Palestinian rank so as to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
